Theo Hernandez has attracted criticism after Milan‘s 2-1 loss against Fiorentina on Sunday, and a Sky Sport Italia pundit said that the French star is ‘not’ helping coach Paulo Fonseca.

Milan suffered their second Serie A defeat on Sunday, losing 2-1 against Fiorentina. It was also their second consecutive defeat across all competitions.

The media has criticised Milan coach Paulo Fonseca, but some Milan players, especially Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez, have received the same treatment.

Theo was particularly disappointing in Florence last night as he caused a penalty kick and missed another one in the opening 45 minutes. To make things worse, he received a straight red card for dissent after the final whistle.

Sky Sport’s Milan pundit Manuele Baiocchini spoke about the Frenchman’s display against Fiorentina.

“Practically, he’s the Milan captain, but yesterday, he caused a penalty and then missed another one that he wasn’t even supposed to take,” the journalist said on Monday afternoon.

“Fonseca was angry at the end of the game because Pulisic should have taken it. Out of irritability, Theo also received a straight red card at the end of the match. He’ll miss games against Udinese and Bologna.

“The best players must help the coach. Theo is one of the captains and he should do it, but he’s not.”

La Gazzetta dello Sport rated Theo 4/10 on Sunday, making him the worst player on the pitch at the Stadio Franchi. The France international has two goals and two assists in nine appearances across all competitions this season. His contract at San Siro runs out in June 2026.
