Riccardo Sottil admitted his first goal in Serie A was ‘an indescribable moment’ and said Cagliari gained ‘great confidence’ from the 4-2 win against Crotone.

The Casteddu climbed to 11th in Serie A after back-to-back wins in the League and Sottil hopes to build on the double success to ‘improve futher.

“Our target was to bring home the three points, continue to build on the win in Turin and improve further,” Sottil told the club’s official website.

“This success gives us great confidence and boosts our morale; it will push us to continue the path we have chosen.”

The former Fiorentina winger has claimed a place in the starting line-up in Sardinia and was happy to help the team secure three points with his first goal in Serie A.

“It’s an indescribable moment, I’m very happy. It’s another personal goal that above all helped the team pick up the points.”

Sottil thanked Eusebio Di Francesco for giving him the opportunity at the Sardegna Arena and said the former Roma coach is ‘teaching’ him many different movements.

“He’s giving me a lot of confidence, he’s a great teacher and a master of the attacking phase,” Sottil said. “The winger is especially important in his play.

“He is teaching me many moves that I didn’t have in my luggage before. Those who play on the flanks can find scoring opportunities and goals.

“Like my teammates, I have a lot of room for improvement and we must explore them together.”

Cagliari continue in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, before a trip to Bologna in Serie A on Saturday.

“We must take one game at a time, starting with the match on Wednesday in the Coppa Italia against Cremonese,” he said.

“We can’t look too far ahead; we must concentrate on how to improve every day and follow this path.”
