Schick: ‘Chievo goal important’

Patrik Schick is pleased to have finally scored his first Serie A goal at the Stadio Olimpico for Roma.

The Czech forward has endured a stop-start first season with the Giallorossi but netted an early strike in Eusebio Di Francesco’s team’s 4-1 win over Chievo yesterday.

“It’s my first goal in the League at the Olimpico,” the 22-year-old commented after his side strengthened their grip on a Champions League place.

“It’s important and will help me in the future.

“I’ve also scored for the second match in a row. I am happy about that.”

Schick grabbed his second goal in as many Serie A matches, having also netted against SPAL last weekend.

However, he denies he has done anything differently in recent times.

“I don’t know, for me it is just down to hard work. The goal against SPAL came because of the same work I had done beforehand.

“When I play on the wings I have to think about defending as well. It depends on where I am playing.”

Schick is pleased his side were able to get the job done against Chievo, despite the attention surrounding Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg against Liverpool.

“The first thing we had to do was think about Chievo, who we had under control.

“We scored four goals and we are happy.”
