Sampdoria lead race to sign Tottenham’s Winks

Sampdoria are reportedly ahead of their competition in the race to sign outgoing Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks.

The 26-year-old Englishman has been cut from the Spurs squad after failing to convince coach Antonio Conte last season. Winks barely featured in the second half of the campaign and has been transfer listed in North London, with Tottenham keen to find a taker quickly.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Sampdoria are looking to pick up Winks on loan from Tottenham and they’re reportedly leading the race for his signature. Reports today suggested that Jose Mourinho’s Roma were offered the 26-year-old and they’re now considering a move as well.

The 26-year-old’s contract expires with Spurs in 2024 and he currently has an estimated market value of around €15m. He’s a product of Tottenham’s youth system and has made 203 appearances for the first team, scoring five goals and providing six assists in that time.
