Rugani opens up about Juventus contract extension and Inter clash

Juventus defender Daniele Rugani is already preparing for a key Serie A game against Inter after the break and is confident he’ll reach an agreement to extend his contract in Turin.

The Italian centre-back scored his first goal this season on Saturday, helping Juventus beat Cagliari 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium.

“Obviously, I am really happy with the goal because it was a tricky moment and in the end, it was crucial for the victory,” Rugani told Sky Sport Italia.

“I am happy I contributed to this win which allows us to move further away from the teams behind us and remain close to Inter.”

The Bianconeri are the current Serie A leaders, but Inter have a game in hand and will host Frosinone at the Stadio Meazza today.

Juventus and Inter will meet at the Allianz Stadium after the break, on Sunday, November 26.

“Now, we must recover during the break and focus on this big game, the first one of many, but it’s Juve-Inter so it will be worth even more,” said Rugani.

The 29-year-old from Lucca has been at Juventus for eight years and his contract in Turin expires in June 2024.

“We have spoken with the club. Me, my agent and the club are on good terms, there is mutual respect so I am sure we’ll find a solution,” he said as quoted by Gazzetta.

Rugani has gotten regular playing time following Danilo’s injury in October and has made six appearances for the Old Lady so far this season.

The Italian defender joined Juventus from Empoli in 2015 and has scored nine goals in 136 appearances with the Serie A giants.
