Romelu Lukaku has continued to do well at Roma this season, but a decision with Chelsea won’t be made until the end of the season.
The 30-year-old Belgian striker was at the centre of transfer market drama last summer, initially being the focus of Inter before his talks with Juventus emerged, killing the Nerazzurri’s interest. The Old Lady were then unable to resolve a deal, leaving him to join Roma on a dry loan deal.
Lukaku has done well in the Italian capital this term, scoring 16 goals and providing two assists in 32 matches across all competitions. He has struggled to stand out under Daniele De Rossi so far, managing just two goals over the last six weeks.
Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto provided an update on the future of Lukaku at Roma and talks with Chelsea via Caught Offside.
The Giallorossi are aware of the costs associated with keeping the Belgian striker in the Italian capital and haven’t made a decision yet, postponing the choice to the end of the season. The Blues’ high demands don’t help, so talks between the two clubs would be needed.
