Roma are stepping up the pressure for Brazilian hitman Nilmar, as it's reported Villarreal raised the price-tag to €24m.

It was reported on Friday evening that the Giallorossi had agreed personal terms with the player's entourage.

The problem now is securing a transfer with Villarreal, who are in negotiations and willing to release him for far less than his €50m buy-out clause.

The Corriere dello Sport suggests Nilmar is available for €24m, but so far Roma's offer of €14m plus performance-related bonuses has been rejected.

It's possible the two clubs could come to an agreement for €18-€20m plus a player in part-exchange.

In order to bring in Nilmar, Roma would have to first sell Fabio Simplicio abroad, freeing up a non-EU space in the squad.

Simplicio has interest from Brazilian club Corinthians.
