Roma profit from Under sale to Fenerbahce

Olympique Marseille’s sale of Cengiz Under to Fenerbahce has brought in millions to Roma thanks to a future resale clause.

The 26-year-old Turkish winger spent three years in the Italian capital from July 2017 to September 2020, making 88 appearances across all competitions. In that time, he scored 17 goals and provided 12 assists.

Roma sold Under to Marseille, initially on a €500,000 loan before making a €8.5m move a year later. He did well in the south of France, scoring 18 goals in 93 appearances.

As highlighted by TMW, Fenerbahce signed Under from Marseille in a deal worth around €15m, a transfer that also sends €3m to Roma thanks to the 20% future resale clause included in his initial move to France.

The Giallorossi have been unable to invest heavily in the summer transfer window due to the Financial Fair Play settlement agreement with UEFA, so this income will be a welcome bonus in the Italian capital.
