Former striker Fabrizio Ravanelli had two possible ideas in mind should Juventus decide to replace Massimiliano Allegri in the summer.
The Bianconeri have started to fall away in the title race in recent weeks and many in Turin are now starting to look ahead to next season, aware that the new sustainable project will take a key step forward with their return to the Champions League and possible Club World Cup qualification.
Allegri has divided opinions at Juventus, with some believing that he deserves a chance to continue in the role after his impressive work despite difficult circumstances, whilst others are hoping for a change and fresh start in this new era.
Speaking to Tuttosport, Ravanelli first discussed Allegri’s second spell in the Juventus dugout.
“Allegri has done an important job up to now. Last year, despite the corporate earthquake and the great difficulties experienced with the punishments, he achieved third place and Champions League qualification on the pitch.
“It wasn’t at all easy to achieve this amidst the 1000 problems to be faced. This year he had the players overperform for half the season, keeping up with Inter who were and remain superior.
“The numbers say it, you may like Massimiliano Allegri or not in terms of his game, but he remains a great coach. The results speak for him and in his favour.”
The former striker then provided two possible alternatives to Allegri should Juventus make a change.
“If you want to go on a certainty, I say Conte. I played with Antonio, he is a born winner, and he also knows the environment very well.
“Otherwise, if the club intends to focus on a young and emerging coach who comes from the province as happened at the time with Lippi, I would hire Thiago Motta who has proven to be a great coach. I consider the Italian-Brazilian ready to lead a top club.”
Juventus currently sit second in the Serie A table after 25 games, nine points behind league leaders Inter, who also have a game in hand.
