Raiola: ‘Sacchi is pitiful!’

Mino Raiola hit back at Arrigo Sacchi’s criticism of Mario Balotelli. “Why listen to someone who is taking the credit for a Milan side that would’ve won without a Coach? He’s pitiful.”

The row erupted after Italy’s 1-1 draw with Poland in the Nations League, which saw Balotelli jeered off the field after a sluggish performance.

The row erupted after Italy’s 1-1 draw with Poland in the Nations League, which saw Balotelli jeered off the field after a sluggish performance.

Sacchi told Radio Deejay that Balo was an example of players who “lack intelligence, which is more important than your feet” in football.

The Nice striker responded in his own way via Instagram stories this morning, posting an inspirational quote: “Don’t ruin a good day thinking about a bad yesterday. Let it go.”

Underneath, he had written: “I’m strong and you?”

Now agent Raiola has dived in with a full-frontal attack on Sacchi, who coached perhaps the greatest club side in history, Il Grande Milan.

Sacchi’s Milan won one Scudetto, two consecutive European Cups, two European Super Cups, two Intercontinental Cups and an Italian Super Cup in the period from 1987-90.

“Intelligence isn’t only necessary in football, but also in life,” Raiola told Adnkronos news agency.

“With his words, Sacchi clearly showed he has no intelligence or class. I don’t understand why we are listening to someone who is living on past glories and taking the credit for leading a Milan side that was so strong it would’ve won without a Coach.

“Sacchi just has to thank (then Milan President Silvio) Berlusconi and think of the World Cup Final he lost with an Italy side that should’ve won that trophy.

“After Milan, he didn’t win anywhere else and has no right to be giving lectures. After all, what he said about Mario confirms what people have said about Sacchi for a long time: he’s finished. He’s just pitiful now.”
