Prandelli: Mario far from reality

Cesare Prandelli says Mario Balotelli is ‘not a bad guy’ but that: “he lives in a dimension that is far from reality.”

In the immediate fallout from Italy’s World Cup elimination that saw him resign his position this summer, Prandelli commented that he substituted the Milan man at half-time of the Azzurri’s eventual 1-0 defeat to Uruguay, for fear he would have been sent off otherwise.

In the national team’s exit at the group stages that followed that defeat, Balotelli received a large amount of criticism.

For the man who prompted some of that focus to fall on the forward, there is an understanding that needs to follow.

“Mario is fundamentally a good guy. He is not a bad guy,” Prandelli has commented in conversation with the Corriere della Sera today.

“But he lives in a dimension that is far from reality. But that does not mean anything.

“At 24 he has the opportunity to build on this great experience.”
