Milan boss Stefano Pioli hopes tomorrow’s game against Atalanta won’t be Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s final match at San Siro: ‘He is smart enough to make a decision.’
Ibrahimovic could play his final match at San Siro tomorrow, given that the 40-year-old has been struggling with injuries in 2022 and has a contract expiring in June. Pioli was asked whether the game will be ‘Ibra’s last dance’ at San Siro during his pre-match press conference today.
“I don’t think so, two games are remaining. I hope it won’t be his last game at San Siro. He is a great champion, and I don’t only refer to the technical aspect,” Pioli said at a press conference.
“I respect him so much, Zlatan is smart enough to decide his future.”
The Swede has repeatedly said that he panics a little at the idea of retiring but has also admitted that he is aware he should continue playing only if his body allows him to do so.
Franck Kessié will play his last home game at San Siro and could be once again booed by his own fans following his decision to join Barcelona as a free agent in the summer. The Rossoneri could become Serie A champions if they beat La Dea and Inter don’t do the same at Cagliari.
During his meeting with the media, Pioli insisted that he won’t think about Inter’s possible result and said his players would do the same as they don’t need extra motivation.
