Origi rejects West Ham and Saudi Arabia proposals despite Milan wanting to sell – report

Divock Origi is determined to stay on with Milan to redeem himself after a disappointing 2022-23 campaign, despite Milan’s desire to sell the former Liverpool forward this summer according to reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 28-year-old joined the Rossoneri last summer following the expiry of contract with Liverpool, but failed to live up to expectations, registering just two goals from 36 appearances across all competitions.

Milan are reportedly keen on bringing in a striker this summer to support the 36-year-old Olivier Giroud, but first need to let some players go in order to raise some funds.

Origi is said to earn around €4m per season on his current contract, the second highest salary among the Milan players, behind only Rafael Leao.

However, despite Origi being to be one of the prime candidates to leave San Siro this summer, Milan may face difficulty in moving the Belgian international on, especially given that his contract runs until 2026.

La Gazzetta reports that his name has twice cropped up in discussions between Milan and West Ham, once for a proposed sale, and once as part of a potential part-exchange deal for Gianluca Scamacca.

There has also been interest from Saudi Arabia, but like with West Ham, a move has not yet materialised.

Milan are still interested in a number of different strikers, namely Scamacca, Alvaro Morata and Mehdi Taremi, but will likely have to find a solution to the Origi conundrum first before bringing any big-name centre-forwards in.
