UEFA officially confirmed on Tuesday that the Stadio Meazza in San Siro would no longer host the 2027 Champions League Final, but sources in Italy claim that the FIGC will propose the Stadio Olimpico as a possible venue for the match.

UEFA confirmed on Tuesday that Inter and Milan‘s stadium in San Siro would no longer host the Champions League Final in three years as the Milano’s municipality could not guarantee that the stadium would be fully available in three years.

According to Gazzetta, UEFA’s decision was expected, so the FIGC had already planned to offer the Stadio Olimpico in Rome as an alternative venue.

The Olimpico is the only other stadium in Italy with an adequate capacity for a Champions League Final (at least 60,000), and according to Gazzetta and Tuttosport, the Italian football chiefs are ready to discuss the stadium’s candidacy with the local and national Governments.

FIGC will likely receive a green light, but this doesn’t mean the Olimpico will automatically replace San Siro. In fact, after the Stadio Meazza assignment was revoked, all UEFA National Associations can apply to host the 2027 Champions League Final.
