Official: Milan activate buy-back option on Colombo

Lecce have announced that Milan have activated the buy-back option on Lorenzo Colombo, just days after the Puglian outfit secured his signature.

The 21-year-old Italian forward joined the Giallorossi on a loan deal with a €2.5m buy option attached last summer, adding some much-needed firepower to the squad in Puglia. He showed positive signs in his debut season, scoring five goals and providing two assists in 33 Serie A appearances.

Last week, Lecce decided to activate the buy option, wanting to keep Colombo in their squad, but they haven’t managed to retain the 21-year-old for long.

The Puglian side announced today that Milan have activated the €3.5m buy-back option, retaining control of the talented Italian striker. A new loan deal could be set up for the 21-year-old but he could be brought back to Stefano Pioli’s squad.

At international level, Colombo has scored four goals in 16 appearances for the Azzurrini.
