Official: Atalanta sign Demiral from Juventus

Merih Demiral has completed his transfer from Juventus to Atalanta, on loan with option to buy, so Cristian Romero can join Tottenham Hotspur.

The domino effect is in progress and only one remains to fall, as today Atalanta officially activated their option to buy Romero from Juve for €16m – having already paid €2m for the loan last year.

Now Turkey international Demiral has been unveiled as an Atalanta player, with the terms reportedly worth €2.5m for the loan, option to buy for another €25m plus bonuses.

Juve will also retain a percentage of the selling-on fee.

All this means is the only remaining domino is Tottenham announcing they have purchased Romero from Atalanta, for €50m plus €5m in bonuses.

Demiral is a 23-year-old Turkey international defender who cost Juventus €18m to sign from Sassuolo in 2019.

It’s worth noting that Juve made a loss on Romero’s transfer to Atalanta, of €4.8m, while La Dea practically tripled their investment by selling him to Spurs.
