Now or never for Belotti to Roma

The 2022-23 Serie A season has started and Andrea Belotti is still without a club, making this the decisive week if Roma want to beat Galatasaray and Nice to his signature.

Corriere dello Sport details how Tiago Pinto is trying to bring the Italian forward to Rome but things are proving more difficult than initially expected, with Bologna not keen to accept an obligation to buy clause on an Eldor Shomurodov loan deal, which has essentially blocked things.

Roma will meet with Bologna again tomorrow to try to find an agreement, with the Rossoblu wanting only a dry loan. The Giallorossi could be forced to lower the €10m fee they’re asking for with the permanence clause in order to finalise things.

Belotti has already spoken to Jose Mourinho and is excited about the prospect of joining the project in Rome, but he doesn’t want to wait beyond this week, becoming anxious following the start of the Serie A season.

Both Galatasaray and Nice are keen to pick up the former Torino captain, but Okan Buruk’s statements to the press were fairly clear when he highlighted that “he would like to stay in Italy”. Roma’s slow work may push Belotti to change his mind in order to find a club fast.
