No signs Fiorentina vs. Juventus postponed amid floods

Despite the protest from the Fiorentina ultras, it looks as if tomorrow’s game with Juventus will go ahead despite the region dealing with flash floods that killed at least seven people.

It is due to kick off at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Sunday at 19.45 GMT.

Storm Ciaran swept over northern Italy this week and was particularly devastating in Tuscany, leaving seven confirmed dead and another person is reported missing.

Hundreds have been forced to leave their homes.

A decision was planned today on whether the Serie A match would go ahead, but according to TGR Toscana, the local authorities have not even been asked to evaluate the situation at the Stadio Franchi.

Fiorentina ultras group the Curva Fiesole released a statement on Friday demanding that the game be rescheduled, as all resources should be pumped into helping the region deal with these floods.

It is not over yet either, as more storms are expected later tonight.

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic came up through the Fiorentina academy and has not forgotten his old city, using his Instagram Stories to send a message of solidarity and prayer for those affected by the floods.

A minute’s silence is held before all Serie A and B games this weekend for the victims.
