No ‘keeper swap, say Lecce

Lecce have dismissed claims that they’ll swap Julio Sergio with Gianluca Curci during the month of January.

Lecce have dismissed claims that they’ll swap Julio Sergio with Gianluca Curci during the month of January.

The Stadio Via Del Mare outfit brought the Brazilian goalkeeper in on loan from Roma in the summer, but there are reports that he could return to the Olimpico in an exchange with Curci.

“Roma are not interested in taking Julio Sergio back,” Lecce sporting director Carlo Osti. “What has been written doesn’t correspond with the truth.

“There was a meeting with Roma director Walter Sabatini, but there was no talk of Julio Sergio going to Rome or Curci coming here.

“For now Julio Sergio is staying here, but the market is long and we could consider alternative solutions until January 31.”

Julio Sergio, now 33, has made seven League appearances for the Giallorossi so far this season.
