Davide Nicola was pleased with Livorno’s “confident performance” in a 2-2 draw with Milan.

The Coach risked dismissal this week, but ended a run of three consecutive defeats and had been leading until a late Mario Balotelli equaliser.

“It is our first point against a big club,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “We proved that we are very organised and looking at the statistics our victory would not have been daylight robbery, even if Milan hit the bar.

“We put in a confident performance and I am happy with the way my team played. We can still improve, as this side has a lot more to give.”

Balotelli scored a brace and rattled the crossbar, wreaking havoc in the Livorno defence.

“We prepared to play this game based on our own characteristics, not on how to limit his.”
