The forward has officially joined the Granata on loan from Milan, with an obligation to move outright next summer, believed to be worth €20m.

“I’m happy to be a Torino player,” Niang told the club’s official website.

“What I was hoping for has been realised, I want to thank everyone for making this happen. I wanted to come here because I feel everyone’s trust, and that’s very important.

“After that it’s no secret that I have an excellent relationship with Mihajlovic. I expect to do well in the League and the Coppa Italia, the objective is to go as high as possible with this shirt.”

Toro President Urbano Cairo also commented on the deal.

“M’Baye Niang is a forward with well-known talent who, thanks to his physical and technical qualities, can act as both a centre-forward and a winger.

“To make him available to our Coach Mihajlovic – who knows him well and appreciates him, having coached him previously with excellent results – we spared no effort.

“It’s gratifying for us to have succeeded, because the insertion of Niang completes in the best way an attacking line-up which was already of the highest level.

“On behalf of the whole club I’m pleased to extend a warm welcome to M’Baye Niang, sempre Forza Toro!”
