Nations League: Italy striker Immobile ruled out of England clash

Ciro Immobile has suffered a muscle injury and has been ruled out of tonight’s Nations League match with England.

The Lazio striker was supposed to start in the Azzurri’s trident tonight but was left out of the squad list so he will not be available against the Three Lions.

According to Gazzetta, the veteran striker has suffered a muscle injury that will force him to the sidelines, same as Sandro Tonali, Marco Verratti, Matteo Politano and Davide Calabria.

The pink paper reports that Immobile won’t return to his club and his physical conditions will be assessed again in the coming days, hoping that he will be available to recover for the match against Hungary on Monday.

Immobile has started the season on a high note with Lazio, having scored five goals in seven Serie A games.

He’s been unable to replicate his form with the Azzurri having only netted 15 goals in 55 appearances with his national team.

Gianluca Scamacca or Giacomo Raspadori could replace Immobile tonight, with the Napoli striker acting as a false 9.
