Napoli are reportedly interested in Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri, but the salary could be an obstacle for the Partenopei.

The Italy international is expected to play against Wales in the last group stage match tonight, but his club future is still uncertain.

Inter have been linked with the Chelsea defender in recent weeks, but Napoli are, according to Il Corriere dello Sport, pushing for a move too.

The soon to be 27-year-old could be tempted to work with Luciano Spalletti, who was his coach at Roma between January 2016 and May 2017.

But Emerson’s €4m-a-year salary at Chelsea could make the operation complicated for the Azzurri, as Napoli are not qualified for the Champions League in 2021-22.

The newspaper claims the Partenopei hope to find an agreement with Chelsea, as they have identified Emerson as the perfect fit at the Stadio Diego Maradona.
