Napoli think of Ranieri

Napoli may turn to Claudio Ranieri if they part company with Walter Mazzarri at the end of the season.

Mazzarri's future is in serious doubt after he admitted to his employers that he could quit in the summer.

It was thought that the Azzurri would contact Palermo boss Delio Rossi or axed Genoa tactician Gian Piero Gasperini if Mazzarri walked away.

However, Ranieri has today emerged as a contender despite recently stating that he'd be keen for a return to England.

The Roman, dismissed by Roma in 2011, knows Napoli well having joined the Azzurri in 1991 after three successful years with Cagliari.

However, he was sacked early into his second San Paolo season after just two wins and five losses in their first nine League games of that campaign.
