There was a curious moment during Napoli’s Serie A trip to Sassuolo, as when the net was torn from the crossbar, Victor Osimhen and Andrea Consigli worked together with staff to fix it.

The scoreline was 2-1 to the Partenopei at the time and Osimhen had just scored to turn the game around after the initial Uros Racic curler and Amir Rrahmani effort.

Play had to be halted after Consigli ran back in a desperate bid to stop the Kvicha Kvaratskhelia lob from the centre-circle and he landed heavily into the net, tearing it from its hinges under the crossbar.

Unusually, the Sassuolo staff were helped out in their attempts to patch it up with some tape by opponents Consigli and Osimhen, two of the tallest men on the pitch.

They were spotted laughing and joking with each other and the referee, while DAZN report that the Napoli bench mocked Osimhen for giving the staff advice on how to fix the goal, especially as he is more in the business of trying to break the net with his strikes.

That is what he did soon after play resumed, as Osimhen completed his brace by putting the ball in the net he had just helped to fix.
