Mourinho snaps at reporter after Roma fan support questioned

Jose Mourinho explains his tactical changes to fill the gaps in defence against Frosinone and snaps at a reporter who asks if Roma fans are still behind him.

It kicks off at the Stadio Olimpico at 19.45 UK time (18.45 GMT).

The Giallorossi are closer to the relegation zone than Europe after managing one Serie A win in the first six rounds, sitting on just five points.

It is the worst ever start to a campaign in Mourinho’s career too and he goes into this game with Eusebio Di Francesco’s Frosinone missing Diego Llorente, Chris Smalling, Renato Sanches, Tammy Abraham and Marash Kumbulla.

Therefore, Bryan Cristante is moved into central defence, with Edoardo Bove stepping into midfield.

“It is a more balanced way of staying on the field with 3-5-2. We tried other players in that role and they were not positive, so we start the game with Bryan there and I think he gives us a sense of security,” Mourinho told DAZN.

“Karsdorp, Mancini, Spinazzola played together a lot when Smalling was injured. We are trying to give some stability, because Ndicka is new there.”

There are also changes on the wing, where Rick Karsdorp gets his first Serie A start of the season.

“He was injured, he had surgery, he only progressively was able to train and play a few minutes. He started in the Europa League and now, after Kristensen had two games in a row, we are going with him.”

Before kick-off, Mourinho was asked if he expected total support from the Roma fanbase at the Stadio Olimpico after there was some criticism in the wake of the 4-1 defeat to Genoa midweek.

“That is not a fair question to ask before a game. I tell you honestly, you do your work, I do mine. I don’t think that is a fair question for a coach just before kick-off.”
