Mourinho mocks Bodo/Glimt after another Roma clash: ‘We are civilised people’

Jose Mourinho explained what caused the touchline scuffle with Salernitana coach Davide Nicola, using the situation to mock Bodo/Glimt. ‘We are civilised people, nobody will be waiting to punch someone in the face.’

The Giallorossi are getting an ugly reputation with two incidents in the space of just three days.

On Thursday evening, after the Conference League defeat to Bodo/Glimt in Norway, the two clubs accused each other of assault due to a clash between goalkeeping trainer Nuno Gomes and Bodo coach Kjetil Knutsen.

This evening there was tension on the touchline during Roma’s 2-1 Serie A win over Salernitana at the Stadio Olimpico.

Salernitana coach Davide Nicola tried to launch himself at Roma assistant manager Salvatore Foti and Mourinho had to hold him back.

Mou later apologised on television to Nicola and the Salernitana staff, admitting “things were said that were not right.”

The Special One explained more in his press conference after the match.

“I tell the truth, not like some clubs or the police. Someone on my bench told the Salernitana staff they were going to Serie B. I went to apologise for the lad who said that.

“We are civilised people, what happens on the field ends there. Nobody will be waiting outside 45 minutes later to punch someone in the face.”
