Mourinho begins UEFA ban by watching Roma

Jose Mourinho begins his four-match UEFA ban for insulting the referee and has chosen a different spot to watch Roma’s Europa League opener against Sheriff.

It kicks off in Tiraspol at 17.45 UK time (16.45 GMT).

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game, Genk-Fiorentina and Atalanta-Rakow on the LIVEBLOG.

The Giallorossi had a difficult start to the Serie A campaign, but got back on track with a 7-0 demolition of Empoli on Sunday.

Romelu Lukaku scored his first goal for the club in that game and is again starting this evening, partnering Stephan El Shaarawy rather than Paulo Dybala.

However, Mourinho will not be on the bench, as he begins a four-match UEFA touchline ban for insulting the referee after the Europa League Final against Sevilla.

Usually when sitting out a ban in Serie A, Mourinho tends to sit on the team bus and watch the game remotely on a television screen or tablet, then keeping in communication with his staff.

For this visit to Sheriff Tiraspol, he will break with that tradition and sit in the press area along with match analyst Giovanni Cerra.

Perhaps due to this suspension, Roma have not sent any of their directors or players to speak with the media before the game.
