Mourinho: ‘1,000 games haven’t changed me’

José Mourinho is ready for his 1,000th game as a coach and says he has not changed over the years: ‘The most important thing remains to win the next one.’

The Portuguese tactician will be in charge of his 1,000th game as a coach when Roma meet Sassuolo at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

“Ninety thousand minutes, plus added time…that’s a lot! Nothing has changed in me, as a person or as a coach,” the Special One told Portuguese agency Lusa.

“Everything that happens gives me a feeling of ‘déjá vu’, it seems that everything has already happened and nothing surprises me,” he continued.

“After all, this is the value of experience, a capital that many tend to diminish, but in football and life, it has a very great value.”

A former Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Manchester United, Tottenham and Real Madrid tactician, Mourinho can become the coach with the longest unbeaten home run in Serie A if he avoids defeat in the next three matches at the Stadio Olimpico.

Mourinho has never lost a Serie A game at home during his career. He is unbeaten in 39 home games, 38 with Inter and one with Roma.

Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri has just two more.

“The most important thing remains the next game, and the next and the next one, until the last one,” Mourinho continued.

“I want to win games, bringing my players, the club and the fans with me. I want Roma to be happy and feel unknown feelings.”

Mourinho can beat Allegri’s unbeaten home run in Serie A

Mourinho’s Roma have picked up six points from their first two Serie A games beating Fiorentina at the Stadio Olimpico and trashing newly-promoted Salernitana 4-0 before the international break.
