José Mourinho has never lost a home Serie A game in his career and could beat Massimiliano Allegri’s record if he avoids defeat in the next three matches at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Special One returned to Serie A after ten years in the summer, signing a three-year deal with Roma.

Mourinho had spent two seasons at Inter, winning two Serie A titles and the treble in his last season at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. During his time at Inter, he never lost a game at home.

His Roma side beat Fiorentina 3-1 in their opening Serie A match of the season, so Mourinho has stretched his unbeaten run at home to 49 games.

Mourinho has already leapfrogged Fabio Capello, who managed 38 Serie A games unbeaten at home as a Roma coach between 2000 and 2002.

Only Massimiliano Allegri has more. The Italian tactician remained unbeaten for 41 league games at home during his first spell at Juventus.

Mourinho will beat him by avoiding defeat in the next three home games against Sassuolo (September 12), Udinese (September 23) and Empoli (October 3).

The former Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United boss went 150 home league games unbeaten with four different clubs (Porto, Chelsea, Inter and Real Madrid) between 2002 and 2011.

  1. True Jose can avoid defeat in the next three games if players cooperate with his type of play. His playing method requires high level disciplined players. Everywhere he has lost his job has been due to lazy players who feel they have reached their goals. However, those who have played to his liking have gone far in the game e.g Zlatan Ibramovic, cristiano Ronaldo, Drogba, Samuel Eto O, Michael Essien, and many more

  2. Paul is absolutely correct. Jose Mourinho is a no-nonsence manager. He gives 100% to his club and players and expects 100%. This season i observe that the fire in the belly of the Roma players have been lit. The owners & management have caught that bug. The desire to give their best to win has set fire even with the supporters. I have been a JM hard core supporter from Malaysia for about 10 years. Now am a fan and fuĺl supporter of AS Roma. All the best to JM & AS Roma.

  3. Jose Mourinho is the greatest of them all. From Porto to Chelsea to Inter to Real Madrid back to Chelsea then to Manchester United to Tottenham Hotspur and now Roma, I’ll always support the Boss. He’s gonna do well in Italian league.

  4. Jose Mourinho is the best coach I have ever heard of in my life time wish u all the best through out ur career boss

  5. Mourinho is a genius , he only needs players that want to play and win the rest is job , if you kick the ball in and out you are a star .

  6. He can probably remain unbeaten for the next three games, but it’s not really a fair comparison – let’s see him beat Allegri’s record entirely in Seria A. No way will Roma go 39 matches unbeaten.

  7. I should have read better – this is about his Seria A home game record, in which case fair enough.
