Milan UCL preview: news and doubts ahead of Chelsea clash

Milan are looking for revenge and redemption at San Siro in their Champions League match against Chelsea.

The match between the Rossoneri and the Blues kicks off at 20.00 UK time at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Milan and Chelsea are both tied on four points in Group E, sitting a point behind RB Salzburg. A win would be a decisive step forward in the fight for a Round of 16 spot, putting the pressure on both sides to secure a positive result.

Theo Hernandez and Junior Messias are available again for Stefano Pioli but his Milan cannot count on Charles De Ketelaere, Mike Maignan, Simon Kjaer, Alessandro Florenzi, Davide Calabria and Alexis Saelemaekers, all of whom are out injured.

Pioli expects an important response from his Milan squad following last week’s loss to Chelsea, something he underlined in the pre-match press conference.

“We need a high-level performance against a strong team. We should not be worried, tomorrow is another match and we must try to be at our level.

“It’s a balanced group, but we should not look at it. We must think about the result without wasting energy.”

Fikayo Tomori was clearly hungry for revenge against his former side following the defeat at Stamford Bridge.

“We must learn from the last defeat, it was important for the growth of the team. Now we have the opportunity to prove who we are in front of our fans.

“Milan are a top club and I am proud to be here. We are a strong team and we can raise the bar.”
