Milan start De Jong talks

Milan have started work on tying Nigel de Jong to a long-term contract, according to reports in the Italian media.

The Dutchman has been at San Siro since 2012, and is known to be a favourite of current Coach Pippo Inzaghi.

With his current deal expiring at the end of June, expectation in the media has been in recent weeks of negotiations on a new deal, even amongst continued links to Manchester United.

Calciomercato.com are reporting today that a first meeting between Rossonero officials and the 29-year-old’s agent has taken place.

It is seen that the club are working towards a deal to sign the player on until June 2018 or even 2019.

Whilst terms are still to be agreed, it is thought that they'd be similar to his current salary and bonuses and that this will unlikely to be a problem as both parties would like the deal to go through.
