Milan reach total agreement with Atalanta’s Sportiello

Milan have reportedly fully agreed a deal with Marco Sportiello ahead of the expiration of his Atalanta contract in the summer.

The 30-year-old Italian goalkeeper has been with la Dea’s first team since June 2012 and is a product of their youth system. He has featured semi-regularly this season under Gian Piero Gasperini and impressed when given the chance, showing his utility as a reliable backup option.

As reported by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan have agreed a contract with Sportiello and will sign him on a free transfer next summer, when his current deal with Atalanta expires.

The Italian veteran will put pen to paper on the contract in February, after the January transfer window draws to a close. He will play backup to Mike Maignan in the Lombardy capital, providing a safer pair of hands than current option Ciprian Tatarusanu.

Sportiello has made 128 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta, keeping 35 clean sheets and conceding 170 goals.
