Milan preparing new contract for Scudetto star Giroud

Olivier Giroud had a very positive start to life with Milan and the club have started talks to tie him down to a new contract.

The 35-year-old Frenchman joined the Rossoneri last summer in a deal worth around €1m and many expected him to simply be used as a bench option to give Stefano Pioli a little more flexibility. The 2018 World Cup winner proved them wrong, however, and his 11 goals were key in Milan’s neck and neck fight for the Scudetto with intercity rivals Inter.

As reported by TMW, talks have begun between Milan and Giroud’s entourage regarding a new contract that’ll extend his stay in Lombardy to 2025. His current deal expires next year and the Rossoneri do not want to lose the experienced Frenchman just yet.

It’s likely that the two parties will continue the negotiations for a few weeks before an agreement is reached, but both parties are keen to move forward together.
