Milan not ready to pay Betis for Miranda

Milan have reportedly decided not to pursue Real Betis the €4m asking price for Juan Miranda, instead waiting until he becomes a free agent in June.

The left-back has long been linked with a move to the Rossoneri and it was suggested he could speed up the process due to the injury crisis in Stefano Pioli’s squad.

However, according to transfer experts Matteo Moretto and Fabrizio Romano both report this evening that Milan are not prepared to meet the €3-4m price for Real Betis to release Miranda in the January transfer window.

His contract is set to run down on June 30 and Milan remain confident they have the upper hand over other interested clubs to secure Miranda as a free agent in the summer.

However, Calciomercato.com claim that it means Miranda is no longer first choice for that role and the club is looking elsewhere.

They have more urgent issues to deal with, specifically finding a central defender after Malick Thiaw and Fikayo Tomori sustained serious injuries.

Milan should already have one option lined up, as Villarreal are likely to release Matteo Gabbia from his one-year loan early for a return to base.
