Milan consider change of system for Borussia Dortmund

Stefano Pioli is reportedly considering a change of system for Milan in their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

It kicks off at San Siro on Tuesday at 20.00 GMT.

This can be a crucial result for qualification into the Round of 16, especially as they drew 0-0 in Germany.

Borussia Dortmund are surprisingly top of the group on seven points, followed by Paris Saint-Germain on six, Milan five and Newcastle United four.

Rafael Leao and Noah Okafor are not expected to recover in time, so there is still a shortage in attack.

Also on the treatment table are Pierre Kalulu, Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer, Mattia Caldara, Marco Pellegrino and Marco Sportiello.

Yunus Musah is suspended, along with 15-year-old striker Francesco Camarda, who must sit out a ban after his red card in the UEFA Youth League.

As he is not yet 16 years old, he would also probably not even be able to register for the senior squad at this stage.

The good news for Pioli is that Olivier Giroud is available, because his two-match ban only applies to Serie A.

With that in mind, and the return of Ruben Loftus-Cheek from injury, Pioli is reportedly considering a change of system.

Milan would be set out in a 4-2-3-1 formation with Loftus-Cheek in a more advanced role, flanked by Samuel Chukwueze and Christian Pulisic.

Milan (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Krunic, Reijnders; Chukwueze, Loftus-Cheek, Pulisic; Giroud
