Milan closing on Partizan Belgrade talent

According to reports in Spain, Milan are working to secure Partizan Belgrade talent Matija Popovic as a free agent, beating Barcelona, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

The German-born creative midfielder plays for the Serbia Under-17 squad and is part of the Partizan Belgrade academy.

He will turn 18 in January and his current contract only runs to December 31, so he is available as a free agent from next year.

Relevo writer Matteo Moretto claims that Milan are very close to securing Popovic for their youth team in 2024.

There is also interest from the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Ajax, but the Rossoneri are leading the way.

Although primarily a creative midfielder, Popovic can also play as a centre-forward or on the left wing.

He scored an astounding 21 goals in 25 games in the Kadestka Liga this season.

If he did join Milan, it would likely be for the Primavera youth team rather than Stefano Pioli’s squad.
