Milan ‘asked after’ Zielinski too

Udinese confirm Milan “made enquiries” about Piotr Zielinski after turning down Liverpool’s offer and waiting for the player to agree terms with Napoli.

The Poland international impressed at Euro 2016 and during his loan spell at Empoli.

According to English papers, Udinese have accepted an €11m plus add-ons proposal from Napoli, but rejected the same offer from Liverpool.

Italian media suggest this is because Liverpool tried to approach the player directly and therefore Napoli have the priority.

“We have a formal agreement with Napoli that could not be taken to its completion because the lad has not yet agreed personal terms with the club,” Udinese director of sport Nereo Bonato told MilanNews.it.

“Milan are probably interested, but aside from making enquiries in a friendly chat, they have not made any further steps forward.”
