Miha: ‘Never feared sack’

Sinisa Mihajlovic insists he “never feared” he’d be sacked by Milan – “I trust these lads and my work.”

The Serbian Coach has been the subject of constant speculation surrounding his future, but the Diavolo appear to have turned a corner with Sunday’s 3-0 win over Inter.

“There were difficult moments, thanks to you,” Mihajlovic told journalists in his Press conference ahead of tomorrow’s Palermo match.

“I never feared for my job though. You have to cross that bridge when you come to it. I’ve always tried to show signs of calmness, I’ve never shown signs of jitteriness.

“I trust these lads and my work, I go forward with my head held high.

“Everything takes time, because it’s not easy with a new Coach and new players. I have no regrets, other than games where we deserved to win and didn’t.

“No other regrets.”

Less than a week after joint-CEO Barbara Berlusconi declared that the target for the Rossoneri is the Europa League, Mihajlovic’s men are being tipped for a Champions League spot.

“We’re the first to want to get there, but we’re taking it one game at a time. If we play as we know we can then we can think about it.

“If we don’t win against Palermo though, you’ll all write that we’re not even worthy of the Europa League.”

Despite the Derby della Madonnina win, President Silvio Berlusconi refused to throw his backing behind the Coach, is that frustrating.

“The President is right when he says Coaches live and die by results,” Mihajlovic shrugged.

“He’s right when he says that whoever wins is a good guy and whoever doesn’t is an idiot. So, since I don’t like to be an idiot, I want to win as many games as possible.”
