Mendes: ‘Mourinho never has problems finding a new club’

Super-agent Jorge Mendes was calm when discussing the future of his client Jose Mourinho, who is set to meet with Napoli this week.

The 60-year-old Portuguese coach was shown the door by Roma last week, ending a 30-month spell in the dugout in the Italian capital. He found success with the Giallorossi, guiding them to a Conference League title in his first year and a Europa League final in his second.

Mourinho reportedly doesn’t want to leave Italy just yet, declining an approach from Al-Shabab, and is now set to meet with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis this week in order to discuss his immediate appointment.

Speaking to Record via TMW, Mendes was calm when discussing Mourinho’s future after Roma.

“Mourinho certainly needs no introduction… The titles won speak for him, he is not just any coach. He is a special coach, he will always have his opportunities and will never have problems finding a new club.”

He also confirmed that the Portuguese coach rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia in the summer in order to move forward with Roma.

“It’s like this, Mourinho had the opportunity, a few months ago, to go to Saudi Arabia. He chose not to go there because he wanted to remain on the Roma bench.”

Mourinho’s sacking hasn’t been taken well by Roma fans, who held up banners and put up posters in support of their former coach.
