In a recent post on Instagram, Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie commented for the first time after having been the victim of racial abuse following his side’s recent and controversial 2-1 win over Liverpool.

The Italy U21 international, who had been involved in Diogo Jota’s sending off, was subjected to abuse online, but has since responded with a spiritual message.

Accompanying several pictures from the Liverpool game, Udogie wrote the caption: “Romans 8:31,” a passage from the bible, which nicely sums up his feelings after a tough few days on a personal level.

The passage in question reads: “What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us?”

The former Udinese full-back has since received the support from a number of colleagues, from both his current and previous sides.

Among those to come out in support was teammate and fellow Italian Guglielmo Vicario, as did the likes of Micky van de Ven, Giovanni Lo Celso, former Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski and close friend and ex-Udinese teammate James Abankwah.
