Marchisio extends Juve contract

Claudio Marchisio has officially renewed his Juventus contract for another five years. “My story started in 1993 and I'm happy it'll continue for a long time.”

The midfielder was a Bianconeri youth academy product and in recent years has become a key figure in the squad as well as an Italy international.

There were some doubts over whether he would put pen to paper, especially amid interest from Inter, but this evening Marchisio officially signed until June 30, 2016.

“It is a very important day for me and I dedicate it to my family. My story with Juventus started in 1993 and I'm happy it'll continue for a long time,” said the midfielder.

“Much has been said about this contract renewal over the past few months, but both the club and I never acted as if this rapport could break off.

“My biggest dream is to lift a trophy as soon as possible, something I also want to do for our fans, who have always stood by us during difficult times.”

Juventus general manager Beppe Marotta confirmed that the new contract includes performance-related bonuses and image rights parameters.

“We are happy with this renewal because Marchisio is an important player who grew up in our youth academy and has the Bianconeri DNA.”
