Mancini had late scare

Roberto Mancini warned Inter “cannot make mistakes like that” after a late scare in the 2-1 win over Bologna.

The Nerazzurri notched up a fourth consecutive home victory in all competition and kept themselves in the hunt for third place.

Roberto Mancini warned Inter “cannot make mistakes like that” after a late scare in the 2-1 win over Bologna.

The Nerazzurri notched up a fourth consecutive home victory in all competition and kept themselves in the hunt for third place.

“Bologna were in an excellent period of form and rarely conceded, so we knew it would be difficult to break the deadlock,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Clearly losing Mauro so early we missed his presence in the box. We still created chances, but overall it was a good performance.”

Rodrigo Palacio will certainly be out at the Stadio Olimpico, as he was booked for time-wasting and will be suspended.

“It’s disappointing for Mauro, as we don’t know the extent of the injury yet, but to be honest I really doubt he'll be ready for Roma. There are another eight games after Roma, but clearly a positive result will leave the race wide open. It’s an important game.

“The only one who really makes a difference on the right is Jonathan Biabiany. At this moment Ivan Perisic is the best in that role on the left and struggles on the right, but we’ll see if we need to adapt.”

Danilo D’Ambrosio scored one goal and set up another this evening, but Geoffrey Kondogbia’s error gifted Bologna a late goal.

“We made life complicated for ourselves at the end in a game where we’d risked practically nothing. We cannot make mistakes like that when 2-0 up in the last three minutes…

“Today D’Ambrosio scored, it’s not really his ‘job’ and yet it’s his second of the season, so we’re happy.”

Brazil manager Carlos Dunga was at San Siro to view some of Inter’s players, including Joao Miranda and Alex Telles.

“We spoke this morning and will contact each other again in a few weeks after Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers. Together we will evaluate what is the best course of action.”

President Erick Thohir was in the stands today, so if he were to offer a contract renewal, would Mancini take it?

“It’s not an issue, I already have a contract. I don’t want to stand here repeating it over and over, that becomes irritating.”
