Maignan’s message for Maldini puts Chelsea on alert

Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan posted a cryptic message on social media following Paolo Maldini’s exit, fuelling exit rumours with Chelsea interested.

The France international is among the Blues’ targets for 2023-24 and is said to be unhappy about Maldini’s sudden exit from the Stadio Meazza. Maignan posted a cryptic message on social media after Milan confirmed Maldini’s departure on Monday.

It caught the media and fans’ attention because Maignan put a ‘?’ on top of Milan’s ‘I.’

Maldini was reportedly ready to offer a new contract to Maignan, but the departure of the former defender means the Frenchman may not be interested in extending with the Rossoneri now.

According to Calciomercato.com, Chelsea are strongly interested in Maignan. The Italian outlet confirms Maldini’s sudden departure could have consequences on the market with Rafa Leao and Theo Hernandez also unhappy about Maldini’s exit.

Maignan joined Milan in a €15.4m deal from Lille in the summer of 2021 and has played 68 games with the Rossoneri, winning the Serie A title in 2021-22 when he was named the best goalkeeper of the season in Italy’s top-flight.
