The transfer window opens in Serie D on January 7 and Douglas Maicon isn’t the only one joining Sona, as his 15-year-old son Felipe will sign for the youth team.

“The deal is done, but he won’t fly in for another three weeks or so,” coach Marco Tommasoni told Daily Verona Network.

“I think this will boost enthusiasm for all the staff and players, but we still have to evaluate his fitness levels. His CV speaks for itself and he brings both experience and character.”

Maicon has not played in Italy since his Roma contract expired in July 2016.

The right-back was in the Treble-winning Inter squad of 2009-10, taking the Serie A title on four occasions, the Coppa Italia twice, the Italian Supercup three times and the Club World Cup once.
