“Milan wanted me, but I refused,” Lestienne told Secolo XIX newspaper.
“I considered Genoa to be the ideal destination for me. President Preziosi was the quickest to react. I also had offers from England, but I wanted to come to Italy.

“When I saw the atmosphere at the Stadio Ferraris for the first time, I fell in love.”
Lestienne arrived on loan, as Al-Arabi signed him from Club Brugge for €10m.
