‘Lazio can do even better’

Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi believes his side can perform even better in the second half of the season – “we can always improve”.

The Biancocelesti are within 11 points of the Serie A summit, with a game in hand, and are very much in the fight for the top four.

Lazio Coach Simone Inzaghi believes his side can perform even better in the second half of the season – “we can always improve”.

The Biancocelesti are within 11 points of the Serie A summit, with a game in hand, and are very much in the fight for the top four.

“Tomorrow the second half of the season begins,” Inzaghi noted in his Press conference ahead of the Spal match.

“We did very well in the first half, and we’ve still got a match to play after the winter break. Tomorrow we have to concentrate and play a match with personality because Spal caused us problems in the first game.

“They didn’t deserve to lose to Sampdoria in the last one so I’ve warned the lads that we need a great game.

“Maybe we should have done better in the first game, we were coming off the Supercoppa victory [against Juventus] and maybe we lost some physical and mental energy.

“I watched the game again and we deserved more, but you don’t start any game ahead and Spal played well.

“We’ll have to be very good to make this a simple game.

“Can we do even better? That’s what everyone wants. Compared to when we started the formations and players have changed, now we have more certainties and are growing.

“We want to improve, we’ve started out really well with the win in the Supercoppa, with progression in the Europa League and Coppa Italia.

“We’ve deserved more in the league and we’re starting from a very important platform, but we can always improve.”

One of the talking points of the first half of the season has been the refereeing in Lazio’s games…

“They say that mistakes even themselves out by the end of the season, so we’re very much in credit.

“We’ve lost points, but I don’t even want to talk about it anymore. Now we just have to think about starting the second half of the season well and leaving the past behind us. Let’s think about the future.

“I’ve talked about VAR so many times. There aren’t many regrets, we’ve done well and we’re missing a few points.

“As I’ve already said, you can’t look back in football. Let’s think about Spal.”
