The 19-year-old arrived in the Italian capital last summer for a reported €19m fee and whilst forced to wait until late October to make his debut, has since impressed the Giallorossi faithful with his performances.

Speaking to Argentine newspaper Ole, the former River Plate youngster was quick to highlight the influence Totti is having on his time in Italy.

“You learn a lot from him,” began the attacking midfielder. “He is a player that is part of the club’s history, an idol of the fans.

“Not mentioning the Argentines, Totti is the player who gives me the most advice. He is one of those who I talk to most. There are no problems with the language, we understand each other.”

Lamela then reflected on how his first half of the season with Roma has gone and his relationship with the fans.

“I’m happy with these first seven months. At first I could not play because of injury. But once I returned I have picked up the pace. Fortunately I got a place in the first team, which was my dream.

“I have been well received from the beginning. Now I feel like a king. With the team that we have, I think we can reach the top.”
