Kluivert thought he’d join Real Madrid, but Bournemouth now in advanced talks with Roma

Justin Kluivert thought he’d join Real Madrid after two years at Roma, but Premier League side Bournemouth are now in advanced talks with the Giallorossi to secure his signature.

The Dutch winger has returned to the Stadio Olimpico after a one-year loan at Valencia last season but is not in José Mourinho’s plans.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims Premier League side Bournemouth are now in advanced talks to sign the 24-year-old.

Roma director Tiago Pinto is expected to arrive in London on Friday to continue negotiations and meet West Ham for Gianluca Scamacca.

The Premier League side had already sat down with the Giallorossi in the January transfer window trying to sign Nicolò Zaniolo, but the Italy international refused to join the Cherries.

Kluivert’s Roma career has not gone as the ex-Ajax winger expected. He moved to the Capital in 2018 for €17.2m, but the Giallorossi loaned him out to RB Leipzig, OGC Nice and Valencia from 2020 onwards.

Kluivert spoke about his move to Roma in an interview with Ziggo Sport on Tuesday.

“Money became a topic and all of a sudden many offers came on the table. I thought: ‘I am 18, let’s play for Roma for two years and then go to Real Madrid.”

Kluivert scored nine goals in 68 appearances with the Giallorossi.
