The Croatia international was expected to arrive for a medical on Thursday, so he could sit in the stands for the first leg of their Europa League play-off with Shkendija.

However, Sky Sport Italia now suggest Milan are rushing to get him on the bench, or at the very least registered for that game.

The real target is to have Kalinic leading the Rossoneri line in their opening Serie A match of the season against Crotone on Sunday.

He netted 15 times in 32 Serie A games last season, while there were also five goals in eight Europa League appearances for Fiorentina.
